Oh it's been so long.

I have a secret to admit.

Are you ready for it?

...

I fail at the internet.
It's true! I fail utterly. That is not an excuse, however, for my absence.
There is no excuse- So let me start things off with some news!

I've been working diligently on what will be my premier collection of nail polish colors and after months of testing and fidgeting and even failing a few times; I am ready. The final step is completing the graphics I will be using for the blog(so be ready for a new look) and the logo for the label. That's it! Eeee! I am so excited and can't even begin to tell how nervous I am. There have been a lot of sleepless nights and tears shed over this, but it's going to at least be something and if it doesn't end in complete failure then I will call that a win. After that it's only uphill and lots of trucking on.
Previously I've posted pictures of what I've made, and the other colors will be no exception. Keep all eyes peeled(ew) for those in the next few days well!

The other bit of news I've got is not as exciting, I will admit, but pretty darn cool nonetheless.
I've received my first VoxBox since the Influenster revamp. Yup, my Cosmo Fall 2012 box arrived today. Let me say, it is magical. What girl doesn't enjoy opening a box of free stuff? Especially when that free stuff is a new disposable razor, a full bar of chocolate, lovely perfume, and some pens? Did I mention I get to review all of it? Me.
I love giving my opinions on things. I do it without people asking! So getting awesome stuff and then getting to be my regular ol' loudmouth self is just icing on the cake.
Win.

So, tomorrow I will have pictures of all the neat stuff I got and my thoughts on each item. I can, however, officially state that this bar of chocolate is my Knight in Shining Armor. Forever.

Love and pretty polish to you all,
Adaira <3

Any day now.

No pictures today I'm afraid. About four days ago I pulled a muscle and pinched a nerve in my upper back between my shoulders and in my back. Unfortunately this means muscle relaxers. I've learned the hard way heavy medication and my ability to think do not work well together- Which definitely means that I won't have a new color to preview for another couple of days. You have no idea how much I have been sad facing at that. I have such great colors in mind and started that I'm just itching to get back to my desk and keep working.

In other news Little Girl is sick with a sinus infection. Coughing. Lots of gunk in the nose. Fever. All of it. The poor kid. So now that I've let everyone know the deal with new colors and my back; it is back to my baby I go. <3

Love and pretty polish to all of you,

What a day.

To start the post off I thought it would be nice to put up a few preview pictures of the color I'm putting the finishing touches on now. All but one ended up being just this side of blurry and wouldn't cut it. So look at a bottle. Oooh, shiny!

Ooh, purple!

Please, excuse the horrible attempt at stamping there on the ring finger and the state of my cuticles. It was a busy day. So many times I sat down to start filling bottles now that I have a formula I'm happy with. So many times I was pulled away mere seconds later by either a crash, a cry, or a cat. I tell ya' if it wasn't one it was the other.

Spoiler: Minor whining ahead.

I understand where Little Girl(and to a degree the cat) are coming from, I do. It's not easy to have Mom home but not have her undivided attention. Today just happened to be one of those days where "abandonment" was the theme more than usual. At one point Little Girl decided that because I wouldn't let her have grape soda in her bedroom that she was going to retaliate by making it rain shoes in the living room. She also "secret cleaned" the bathroom. Water. Everywhere. The truth is that I have no idea what to do. By 7:30 in the evening I had run out of punishments and bribes and was at my wit's end. She ended up going to bed a full hour and a half earlier than she normally would and even that was a battle. Here's hoping that Daddy's days off and having both of us home all day helps her feel better and evens things out for the next week.

Do any of you have trouble with this? Are any of you stay-at-home mothers? Let me know!

Love and pretty polish to all of you,
Adaira

... And we're off!

The idea behind this blog is to catalog my progress as I delve into the deep, sexy, world that is creating your own cosmetic line. For me this world deals primarily in nail polish. Mmm, fumes. That's right- I'm a gal trying to elbow her way into the indie nail polish community. Interestingly enough from what I can gather from my many hours of diligent research(as in "the internet") it's actually a fairly welcoming and diverse community. One that I honestly hope I'll make a name for myself in. With that said, I've spent the last month working on the first color for my premiere collection. The past two days in particular being the busiest as I finally felt the color was ready to be bottled. So without further stalling I present "No Name Brown"; thus named because it does not, indeed, have a name yet. Lol.
Oh yeah. Look at those bottles. Aren't they just the sexiest? I wanted to be sure to include indoor, sunny, and shade images; just so you could get a feel for what it looks like in the bottle under all forms of light. Better yet, though- I then swatched it! Yay!

This is one coat and no top coat in direct sunlight.
One coat and no top coat - Shade.
Two coats and no top coat - Sunlight
Two coats and no top coat - Shade
Two coats w/ one coat Seche Vite - Sun
Two coats w/ one coat Seche Vite - Shade

I'm not going to launch into the formal or reviewing my own color, as that just seems vain and unnecessary. However, I totally wanted to share and get thoughts from the internet at large on my first creation! Are any of you indie polish makers or interested in starting? I'd love to find out.

Love and pretty polish to all of you,
Adaira
